Some of you probably noticed a slowness while working in BVCMS during a 45-minute period this afternoon. We investigated with RackSpace, who hosts our servers, and found out that one of their switches came under a Denial-of-Service attack.
Our firewall did its job well and protected the servers. However, this type of attack will create a slow-down of the system. At one point we actually took the servers down while we were investigating.
While we were on the phone with RackSpace trying to investigate, the issue resolved itself. It was only later that we found out that the slowness was due to the Denial-of-Service attack against one of their switches. It affected a number of their clients behind this particular switch.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
