Mobile App Updates
We are currently updating all custom mobile apps with several new features. If you have purchased the mobile app and have not already heard from us, you will be notified when your app has been approved by Apple and/or Google. Below is a summary of the new features:
New Sign in Options
A user will no longer need a username and password in order to sign in to the app. Users will be able to sign in with an email address or cell phone number. Once they make their choice on the prompted sign-in screen, they will be sent a numerical 6-digit code to enter and finish the login process. This will make it super easy for users to sign in, will reduce potential duplicates, and is more secure. Your church must have the Twilio integration set up in order to use the new cell phone login option. By default, login with a cell phone is turned off. If your church would like to turn this on, please make sure your Twilio integration is set up and then email support@touchpointsoftware.com. The automatic SMS message and email the user receives to login are customizable. To learn how to customize the messages and enable this feature, please visit our article.
Giving History & Statements
The giving history page has been updated to provide a better experience. Users can now view their giving history in summary or detail for any year they have made a gift. They can also generate a PDF statement, update their statement preferences, and make a one-time gift or manage their recurring giving all from this one page. The giving links for this page are pulled from your church’s system settings. Click here to learn more.
Deeplinking
Deeplinking is a powerful tool that allows you to send a link to a specific page or feature within the app. If a user does not have your app installed, then it will take the user to the app store listing to download it. If the link takes the user to an area of the app that requires login, it will display the new login options and, after login, will take them right to that page. It is super easy and one of the best ways for your congregants to update their profile, view their giving history, make a gift, register for an event, and more. To learn more and see the list of available links please check out our documentation here.
Push Notifications
You now have the option to schedule a Push Notification, target a specific location if you have multiple locations, and use Replacement Codes to personalize the message. Creating and sending a push notification is done in the App Portal. To learn more about how to use this feature, please see our article here.
