Email Draft Versions

You now can choose whether to use email draft versions. Previously, after an email draft was initially saved, each subsequent saved draft had a version number appended to the name. This works well for retaining a history; you can easily go back three versions to the draft you saved in September. But, over time, the list of drafts can become overwhelming and may contain names such as My Email.v3.v5.v1 !

To avoid this confusion, now the default behavior is that each saved draft of an email will overwrite the previous draft. Simply locate the draft you want to use, and you can be sure it is the latest draft saved. Keep in mind that you can always recover an email you sent a few months ago by opening the Email Details and copying it as described here.

You can also clone an email draft, giving the clone a new draft name. From the blue Toolbar, select Create/Edit Saved Draft, find the draft you wish to copy and click on the Clone button to the right. When prompted, give the copy an new draft name. Then make any desired modifications to this newly named email draft.

Action Item: To retain draft versioning, you will need to adjust an administration setting. Because email draft versioning will now be turned off by default, if you wish to continue using the previous scheme you must add the administration setting UseEmailDraftVersioning  and give it a value of true .
